And #moringaleafpowder.

I start my day with the berries and chia seeds. Followed by Chamomile tea😀 love the essence and smell it gives to brew my mornings.

The freshness of being able to take chia seeds and feeling less bloated and berries adding that khatta meetha flavour.

Tip on chia seeds you can soak it over night in water , maybe in a mud glass or steel glass to give you the fresh feel in the morning.

Chamomile tea is my favourite, of all the products. I love how it kicks my mornings and makes me feel pumped and refreshed.  All ready to kick start the day.

The gond katira I did make ladoos of it, and the sweet taste just melted in my mouth. Recommend to people who want to start a healthy lifestyle and give a change to their well being.

FOUNDATION BASE- HOW, WHICH, WHAT TO BUY?

cleaning_foundation_makeup_stains_on_clothing_l3

Being my second beauty blog. I hope, to cover certain things what have not been written or told about. Recently I had a great difficulty to decide which foundation is good and affordable and something which I could use for a daily basis. Alas after a lot of research  and talking to like a billion people I finally found one base which I think is perfect for me on my current situations.

Lets start with what is a foundation : Foundation is a skin-coloured makeup applied to the face to create an even, uniform colour to the complexion, to cover flaws and, sometimes, to change the natural skintone. Some foundations also function as a moisturizer, sunscreen, astringent or base layer for more complex cosmetics.

A foundations covers your basic face tone and if you wish to cover your under eye and blemishes, pimples more you add a concealer with it. But a foundation is definitely a must buy for any girl out there. For more even tone and brighter look for your face, for daily basis.

P.S:Do not forget to clean up your make- up by the end of the day, with a tissue, baby oil, coconut oil or any make- up remover.

Phase 2: Which foundation: Foundations are a varied one but someone who wanted something affordable and an everyday use one. I will be giving you options from low to high .

The most most important fact is to know your tone. It makes it easier to buy your foundation.Always go to a drug  store or make up store to select a few shades that seem close to your natural skin tone. Make sure to check it in natural light, since stores usually have fluorescent bulbs. Try the color on your jawline, not on your wrists and hands to check . As everyone has a different skin tone and type always try it on your skin for a day and come back and buy it. DO NOT HURRY TO BUY YOUR FOUNDATION. GIVE IT A DAYS TIME.

Top 5 foundations I recommend :

skingenius-closed_bottle

But do not forget to try before buying.

Price : 525rs

  • Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Foundation

    • Blurs imperfection and fine lines. It brightens and evens out skin tone, which smoothes and Hydrates the skin. Protects from harmful UVA / UVB rays (SPF 25) and free radicals. Price: 990rs

Last and my most favourite:

  •                                          M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid SPF 152510653

Long-wearing, 24 hours hours. It reduces appearance of pores.Controls oil and shine. Non-drying. For all skin types, especially oily skin For all skin types, especially oily skin.Provides stay-true colour .Non-streaking . Non-caking and Non-settling best thing that it looks perfect for photos. Price 2500.

Its pricey but a one time buy and you can be assured to chill for like 2 years. Most recommended.

How to apply a foundation base.

  1. Apply to skin using a sponge or foundation brush.
  2. Blend with fingers, sponge or brush.
  3. Using fingers are the best way to blend the cream and its covers all the part evenly, give it time to set.
  4. Before you apply the power.
  5. Practice practice till you get to blend the right way.
  6.  Most important point, use 2 fingers and dab all the way, is the key.

Hope  this information helps you to buy your foundation right.

Me time at Hyatt Regency’s SPA!

Hyatt-Regency-Chennai-Exterior-Evening-1280x427

While everyone is showing you what to wear and how to get dressed this Diwali. I have come up with a better way to relax yourself! 😀 Join me and let me share you an estatic experience I had in Siddh Spa at Hyatt Regency Chennai.

The  Hyatt Regency Chennai, is one of the favourite hubs. Be it the restaurants or the 365 A.S., There is something about the place which makes you feel comfortable. The service and the food is just close to heart.I was invited for a special treat at the Siddh Spa in Hyatt itself. Must say I was a excited, who doesn’t like to get a special spa treatment.

So when I entered I was greeted by Mr Dinesh Goswami, the Spa director. Very warm welcome, He showed me around the place. They have the largest gym.

I was shown around the spa, the spa has about 5 rooms, Jacuzzi, steam and a huge dressing room. Oh oh the best part they have  a couples room also for all you couples out there.

IMG_6844

Couple Room!

I quickly changed and was taken to the relaxing room, where i was told to relax and have some fresh juice and fill a form . About myself, which would help them to give me a better massage.

Relaxation Room

Relaxation Room!

Then I was taken  to my room and the first cleaned my leg in some flower petals water and told me to relax while they did so …

P.S: I was already calm and excited, with the care and pampering i was getting. Totally ready to de- stress and forget the world behind .

IMG_6853

So before I talk about my experience let me tell you a bit about Siddh and the kind of treatments, the products are Eco friendly and very safe to use. So here it goes:

The Siddha science is a traditional treatment system generated from Tamil culture. Palm leaf manuscripts say that the Siddha system was first described by Lord Shiva to his wife Parvati. Parvati explained all this knowledge to her son Lord Karthikeya. He taught all these knowledge to his disciple sage Agasthya. Agasthya taught 18 Siddhars and they spread this knowledge to human beings.

Siddha focused to “Ashtamahasiddhi,” the eight supernatural power. Those who attained or achieved the above said powers are known as Siddhars. There were 18 important Siddhars in olden days and they developed this system of medicine. Hence, it is called Siddha medicine.

The Siddh Spa and Fitness Centre at Hyatt Regency Chennai provides the guests and members an oasis of luxury. A first–of-its-kind spa concept, inspired from the 10,000 year old Siddha – Siddh Spa is the complete path to well-being.

Siddha meaning “perfect” aims to tap into the primordial wisdom of traditional medicine and is believed to rejuvenate dysfunctional internal systems to promote natural wellness and re balance the ideal ratio of Vatham, Pitham and Kapham.

The kinds of massages:

1.Vatham

For those seeking peace of mind and inner stillness, the path of “Tranquility” balances ‘Vatham” to offer deep calm.

2.   Pitham

For those seeking to replenish and fortify, the path of “Restore” balances “Pitham” to offer nourishment.

3. Kapam

For those seeking to boost energy and purify the body, the path of “Radiance” balances “Kapam” to offer energy and vitality.

4. Nidra-Vatham

With Jasmine offering a warm deeply relaxing effect, this traditional massage offers a constant flow of long firm, downward strokes.

IMG_6847

Rates for the above treatments

My experience:

Relaxation at its best. The pressure points were pressed with ultimate perfection. The therapist  worked on every part one by one. She kept asking about me being comfortable and If I was getting the right pressure. The massages was such a stress – buster, must say. I almost slept through the therapy. That’s the best part isn’t it? Going to a whole new place, and getting the pampering you wish for. I was totally energised after the massage and was ready to take the world.  I would definitely give the therapy a 5 on 5 and a must recommended one. Its better then the few spa  I have gone to in Chennai.

Who doesn’t like to be pampered and get the best out of it. So do not waste time and book your appointment right now. Reasonable and perfect pampering this season time. Or actually any day.

If you have enjoyed the post, do head to the spa right now and get the best package in town for some me time 😀

Palam Silks celebrates this Festive Season with The Freedom Of Choice

“SWATANTRA”

For the longest time, women haven’t had the choice to do as they please. But that isn’t how it is any more. Today, it is the woman who decides what a woman can do, and what she cannot. As it turns out, there is very little she cannot do.

She can choose to be a homemaker, or a CEO, or both. She can choose to ride solo to the Himalayas, or stay single. She can choose to step over lines other people from other ages drew for her. She can decide to ignore outdated prejudices and she can shape her own future.

This is a freedom movement that began before India’s independence and is still gathering strength. Palam Silks wishes to be part of this movement, and to celebrate the victories achieved so far.As part of Deepavali and festive season portfolio, Palam presents four new collections that are tributes to women’s growing power of choice.

“Each of our Deepavali and festive season collections is unique in its own way,” says Jeyasree Ravi of Palam Silks. “And every saree in our new portfolio makes a loud and clear statement. It is designed for today’s woman; she knows what she likes, and she knows how to get it too.”

Onam Sadhya at Crimson Chakra

cc

My first ever Onam Sadhya. Thank you @samminator for calling me and making me experience something out of my comfort zone.

Sadhya means a variety of dishes traditionally served on a banana leaf in Kerala, India. During a traditional Sadhya celebration people are seated cross-legged on mats.

The main dish is plain boiled rice, served along with other dishes collectively called Kootan  which include curries like parippu, sambar, rasam, pulisseri and others like kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, mango pickle, pulinji, naranga achaar (lime pickle), as well as papadam, plantain chips, sharkara upperi, banana, plain curd and buttermilk. The traditional dessert called Payasam served at the end of the meal is of many kinds and usually three or more are served. Some of the varieties are Paal Ada, Ada Pradhaman, Paripu pradhaman, chakkapradhaman, etc. The ‘Kootan’ are made with different vegetables and have different flavours; some say the reason for including so many dishes in the Sadhya is to ensure that the diners will like at least a few dishes.

Some communities, especially those in the northern part of Kerala, include non-vegetarian dishes in the sadhya. Although custom was to use traditional and seasonal vegetables. Tradition has it that Onion and garlic are not typically used in the sadhya. Conventionally, the meal may be followed by, chewing of betel leaf with lime . This helps digestion of the meal and also cleanses the palate.

The food tasting session began and I was excited to try my first sadhya.  Being in south and not really been a fan of coconut smell in my food. I was hoping to like and not sense the smell I ate.

To my surprise there wasn’t any smell. Thank God and I quickly grabbed the paratha and started munching away with the gravies given.

Lets talk about the menu first : below is the variety of things served to us. Must tell you I loved every bit of what was served.

21222554_10155060420231775_1681882049_o

The APPAM, Paratha were very soft and my most favourite. The ghee rice served along with this was delicious, the ghee pouring from the rice and the aroma of the fresh hot ghee was just the thing I was looking for to have with my side dishes.

We ordered starters also which were mushroom masala, crispy potato, veg cutlet, cauliflower fried and Baby corn crispy. Well non veg starters were a variety of them to the ones i remember, as I dint get a chance to taste them , some were Chicken chukka, prawns crispy, chicken cutlet etc.

Food review:

I loved every bit of the food there, be it the paratha, the channa masala, the rasam, the appam, the starters. The right quantity of masalas, less salt which I like. The aroma and the taste of all the side dishes actually made me finish the whole plate, like  a good girl.

Must must try the dishes. Whenever you go to Crimson Chakra.

Not sure if you will get to try all the dishes which we did, but you can request .

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY PAKWAN!

Pakwan-Board

Warning : There are going to be a looottt of food pictures ahead. Please read after eating or grab something and hop on the food train to Pakwan!

IT’S Pakwan’s first anniversary and what a better way to celebrate, with the fellow food bloggers. Making it a big feast with a variety of lip- smacking food and some fun games to add to the celebrations.

It was a 4 course meal. From soup to desert, will be posting all the pictures and will be writing few lines about the taste.

Starting with the Tomato Basil soup, the taste was just up to normal. Nothing great about it, Was a little sweet. But was a fine start to the meal ahead.

21245278_10155060395191775_1726062328_n

CORN AND SPINACH DIM SUM :

The most favourite appetizer of the day and stole my heart was the Steam Corn Dim Sum. This reminded me of the non- veg dim sums I normally binge on. This was truly a surprise and the best starter.  The corn and spinach were nicely blended with the right amount of salt in it. The outer layer was soft as well as was the filling inside.

Definitely a MUST Try!

21247664_10155060420831775_669758965_o

CRISPY WATER CORN CHESTNUT:

The crispy corn, the second best starter of the day. This Chinese dish is also a must try there. The blend of sweet and sour sauce made the corn so tasty and made me munch more than I should have had hides face.

21268962_10155060395021775_1062709551_n

There was a Pani Puri competition happened, which I did not participate in. But was fun cheering for the contestants. Dint get a chance to try the pani, But the ones who did surely loved it.

21245894_10155060420696775_1699993221_o

ZAMINDARI ACHARI ALOO:

I am going to admit that by far the first time, I have thulped more starters than the main course. The barbecued achari aloo was, totally masaledar (filled with masala/powder), totally achari (pickle) and totally mouth watering.

Double thumbs up!

21208733_10155060394871775_1900190641_n

MIXED VEGGIES AND GARLIC BREAD : ( Not sure pf the actual name)

But the garlic bread was crispy and perfect. The veggies were not that great. not something I like much.

21209064_10155060421006775_813720182_n

MAIN COURSE MEAL :

VEGGIE SIZZLER

The rice was I like mixed with some oregano and good salt, did make the rice taste well. The cutlet could have been better, maybe the wasn’t fried right of something went wrong there. The veggies were good boiled well and tasted good.

21247707_10155060420576775_835750550_o

DAL PAKWAN :

Commonly known as dal makhni, who doesn’t love a good brewed dal? Was exceptionally happy to find a place which makes really good dal makhni. Kudos to that. The right amount of everything is a must try .

21245406_10155060396316775_935504907_n

LASUNI PALAK:

The spinach was also a good dish, I did end up having more of the gravies then the roti. So apologies of adding only the gravies pictures. Spinach filled with garlic, what could a north-Indian girl ask for?

21209169_10155060395956775_377367481_n

SABZI KEEMA AMRITSARI :

I swear the last dish for the day.. When you hear keema, you think non-veg, but what better way when they make something as  yummy.

The keema amritsari melted in my mouth, malai on top with the softness of the sazi want more. Do try them . Double thumbs up!

21208369_10155060395786775_1317567808_n

Desserts… who wants to be de- stressed with the sweetness and abundant food we ate..

The gulab jamun was yummilicious. Normally not a sweet- tooth person fell in love witht the jamun and the  crispy fried.

A glow in the dark <3

DID

When all your senses activate. When just realising that if one of your senses stop working. WHAT would you do? Let’s all start with thanking God for blessing us. 😀

Recently I went for an exhibition which was showcased at Dialogue in the Dark.

Where we were taken in a dark room, a lovely voice spoke to us and guided us all the way . The things I felt, heard, touched and sensed made me realised , that so many time we fail to use our other senses. We have been lucky and blessed to be the way we are. I thank Anant the owner of the DID to give us such an amazing opportunity!

We  touched some lovely jewelry from Jewlot . Some earrings, jhumkas, wedding sets, north and south Indian. Some really beautiful jewelry.

Well I had a fascinating experience while touching one of the pieces , I  don’t quiet remember what it’s called. But  a south Indian mala ( necklace) made of beautiful beads. Somehow I actually guessed the colour right , without even seeing or actually evening know what exactly hoe the piece looks. I told them that it’s red in colour. To my shock and others it was the colour.

I would say the best 45 minutes of my life. I would not give you more details on what else we did. But its a truly beautiful experience one should not miss.

Get your family, friends, everyone you know to Dialogue in the Dark @ Express Avenue Chennai.

Live the most magical 45 minutes of your life .
