Sheraton Grand : The reef

Long walks to the beach, sit and take a sip or two. Laze around the resort a bit and relish the Grand buffet @reef restaurant at @sheratonchennai .

The grand buffet is all about tasting every bit that food has to offer.

From the tasty biryani, to Chinese to specialties from the sea to the very basic dal chawal.

Everything in one roof, look around taste everything, enjoy the food, as its super finger licking . The environment and the service is A class. People being very courteous and friendly makes you enjoy food more. Gonna go back again and enjoy the food and the view.

Love the interiors and the place so much. So glad Chennai has a new place to go and lovely food that just makes you want to eat and relish.

My fav from the buffet:

Hakka noodles and kung Pov chicken

Punjabi kadi and plain rice

Chettinad Prawns

The mezze platter

Biryani

White sauce chicken pasta

Last but not the least the chocolate cake and bread were the tip to the perfect end of our lovely mealđŸ€©

The buffet starts from 7 am to 11:30 pm all day everyday.

Cafe Cakebee (Food review)

French windows, greenery around and amazing food to dine .
Here’s @cafecakebee . The new cute cafe which serves the best of cuisine.
I had a a scrumptious meal and cant wait to take my family/friends along.
The best part is every meal has a unique taste to it.

We ate a lottt of things and will everything was better than the other one. Will post down all that I love and want you all to taste/try it. When you visit the place 😀

My recommendation:

*Asian chicken broth soup : Chicken filled with alot of goodness. HOT HOT soup, with good amount of chicken and vegetables, giving you a tinge of ginger flavour. Made me order for another bowl of it. The right amount of everything made the soup delicious. 20181009_132320

*Classic Caesar salad and Balsamic infused melon salad

Well someone who’s not a big fan of salads, but loves to try new things did fall in love with these two. Ceaser salad taking my heart and Blasamic melon salad with the presentations was the show stealer. Filled with all the healthy things together. Every bite would make you taste something different.

20181009_132403_0001

*Chicken satay and Mutton Cigars

Chicken satay is a dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce. My favourite dish of all times.  The chicken was tender and juicy.

The mutton cigars made of small chunks of mutton pieces, fried like a spring roll. Tasted well, crispy and hot.

20181009_132559 (1)
*Mezze platter has my heart. Wherever I go, I do make sure to order it. The presentation was very appealing. Falafel, And pita bread were nicely made. The hummus was perfectly blended with the right spice. Yummyy..

20181009_132524
*Chicken lasagna : a baked dish containing layers of boiled lasagna, and usually cheese, a seasoned sauce of tomatoes, and meat or vegetables. This layer of wholesomeness was so filling and soft and gooey. Just how I like it ❀ The good layers of chicken and vegetables is a whole meal for one person.

20181009_132535

*Orange butter grilled fish : Served with cauliflower rice and grilled veggies. Looking for a healthy meal for one. Here is your to go meal. Healthy, tasty and soft. The fish is so soft that it melts in your mouth.

20181009_132548 (1)

*Chicken tikka pizza : When a northie is given chicken tikka, in anything it wants to run to it first. The crispy pizza is bae. Chicken and cheese and your set to relax and enjoy the pizza and the view.

20181009_132513

DESSERTS

*New York cheese cake : This thing was the most unexpected dish . I have been very sceptical with cheese cakes always. The good good cheese was sooo fresh and the luscious. Must recommend.

*Seven layer cake . The chocolate lover, had to attack on something chocolaty. This layer of just chocolate and divine love of 7 layers . Did make me happy .

20181009_132449

*Brownie shake and Blueberry smoothie.

The brownie shake was the show stealer. Looking for something healthy then do try the blueberry smoothie.

20181009_132404_0002

*Baklava, a Turkish sweet dish.  I had just visited turkey and had not even forgotten the taste of it. Found something similar here.  Sweet and the plating was just so appealing.

Bombay Brasserie – Revamped menu!

Indian food is all about masala and spices. Someone who totally digs the vibes of wanting masala and spice in all her meals.

2

Aam Papad Paneer: Paneer and lotus tossed with special sun-dried mango. Total chatpata, khata meetha ( sweet/sour) .

Gunpowder Potatoes: Grilled baby potatoes with a homemade southern powder tossed with onion.  Definitely going to go try this again. This is a starter and an evening snack.

Coast to Coast Chicken with mixed seed roti: Chicken in 30 spice Malwani masala mixed with seed roti. Spicy, masaledar tasty soft and the roti complimented the gravy much. This gravy can be eaten with chur chur paratha or nan or even tandoori roti. This is a whole meal in itself, which would be enough for one person.

Bombay lunch home- veg curry and banana leaf rice : This is a vegetarian must must order dish. Veg curry mixed with crispy fried noodles served with rice mixed in coconut mill. Food review – Take 2 (Chennai)

#Sponsored

New hangout place in town.. where, what and how?

TAKE2 at Kodambakkam .
My food review and how much I loved the place is below.
It was a Wednesday night. Really like the place as it nice and cozy. The icing on the cake was the band called ‘on that note’who played that night.
Food review:
My 5 picks from what we ate!

1

  1. Green chilly chicken : A lover of chilly chicken had to order this, for obvs. Soft chicken with little spices and green capsicum and chillies. It wasnt completely chinese. But I think more of desi chinese. Which I liked.

2

  1. Jamaican Fish : the best best dish of the lot. Filled with cumins, peppers and paparika.. Totally nailed this dish. The soft soft fish going into my mouth and melting.. I knew I found my fav dish here. Definitely recommend.
  2. Salt pepper mushroom : When u order so much non veg it gets difficult to like any vegetarian dish. But I found the go to dish for any vegiie is this. Mushroom fried and sauted in salt and pepper. Perfectly blended and tasted soo good.

4

4.I ordered a chicken spaghetti pasta. Normally what happens is many places forget to put salt or like to leave the dish bland. But this place had the pasta which was with the right amount of salt and spices. Recommend this tooo.. 5. The darth rum drink mixed with ice, chocolate, rum .

Food review- Amar restaurant ( Chennai)

Amar a very famous restaurant in Mumbai which has about 60 branches has opened its doors in Namma Chennai too at T.nagar.
Quickly will give you the food review.
SWIPE LEFT!! We ordered
Pav bhaji, chilli planner, roti, tawa pulav and totto fruti falooda.

Pav Bhaji: when someone says Pav bhaji I only think of chowpathy . But to my surprise this one was actually tasting similar to what I usually have. I feel masala could have been lesser and the quantity is good. Pav was soft. Did make me feel I am in mumbai.

1

Chilli panner: the most winning dish. Desi Chinese and me go hand in hand. I love panner and Chinese. This had the perfect blend of it. Totally must try.

2

Tawa Pulav: One more Mumbai specialty. the rice was not cooked well. But I felt thePulav could be more sauted. Less quantity. But tasted pretty good.

3
Tooti frooti falooda: again a winning dish..Must Must try.. thw kulfi and tooti frooti werw the sweet end to our dinner.

The spicy bangkok bowl has jasmine rice topped with chicken spicy gravy . The chicken is minced. When served they mix the rice and gravy and add the spices , egg on top. This being my favourite and the perfect main course. It fills your stomach and makes you want more. 😋

The Italian Delight!

IMG_5805

The little Italy at Nungambakkam is one stop for the best Italian in town.

Being it vegetarian, I was a little hesitant at first. But the decision to make a stop to this restaurant was worth .

Let me start with thanking Mr Vimal Shah and the excellent Head chef and manager Mr Pradeep  Shetty, for making us feel at home. With the lovely food coming by and the finger licking food making us want more 😀

The Food review:

Soup and appetizers :

Crema di fungi – the mushroom and cream based cream soup. The creamy texture and the right soft mushrooms, makes you feel warm and comforting. I did try the Pomdoro which is a tomato based one. Definitely for my pick it would be the crema di fungi.

IMG_5819

Supreme Nachos

Lets Nacho the supreme style. What a better way to start your meal with this finger- licking filled with cheese and veggies nachos. Lettuce, Tomato, Olives, Jalapenos & Melted Cheese it tasted like a lot of love had been drizzled in. The crunchy freshly baked nachos with the fresh veggies and hot cream cheese is to die for and the best I  have had by far in the city. The salsa sauce also was well blended with oregano and tasted well with the nachos.

IMG_5821

Spinaci Salsa

The crispy bread and creamy spinach dip was the second starter we had. The dip is what did the wonders of just melting in my mouth . Yes there are more options available for the dips and breads you can choose from.

IMG_5824

Pace Di Potato

Main Course:

Can you believe it? A potato skin fried dish. Yes this is what Pace di potato is.. Loved loved this dish the most from all the three.. Unique in its way, not too fried, not oily just yummness in my mouth. The mayo red chilli dip was the perfect combo to complete the dish. Do do try this dish.. Double thumbs up!

IMG_5827

Chefdon Pizza (Special)

This pizza was freshly and specially baked for us, What a delight it was. Being a fan of thin crust pizza, this automatically became my favourite. The veggies and panner did good justice to the crispy pizza. Good quantity for 3-4 people and every bite you take was loaded and mouthful.

IMG_5830

Pasta del Barone

Tangy, zingy, spicy Ravioli , was spot on my kinds pink sauce based pasta. The spinach filling inside the ravioli was a great attempt, as it made the pasta more tasty and spicy in every bite. Must must try this one. Double thumbs up.

IMG_5834

Risotto di Verdre

Not being a big fan of the risotto but did make me want to try, as the presentation of the dish was bang on. Nicely sprinkled with herbs, and the taste soft and melting in the mouth. The right salt, sauces did make me start liking risottos. Cannot believe I just said that 😀

IMG_5835

PRIMAVERA

The aroma of olive oil tossed noodles were the cookie points were taken.Trying to be healthy and still want to eat Italian , there you go best dish to have. This veggies and noodles combo was a win win.Do try this one too.

Desserts:

Apologies for not uploading the Sizzling Chocolate walnut picture, but yes the soft soft brownie and some lovely ice cream and the hot hot sauce was to die for. The  spongy and fluffy brownie did get cookie points too.. Double thumbs up.

Tiramisu being my favourite dish, did get the first attention. Soft, delicious is the way it should be. Having a sweet tooth makes you want to have more, but the calories you take in do make you run a little longer the next day 😀

The last but not the least Chocolate Bomb, the hot chocolate lava falling when you cut the fluffy portion is the melting point. Yum yum totally yummy, I did finish the whole myself. Guilty as charged. But definitely worth it!

Oh oh before I forget we did try the Mojito aslo which was the refreshing thing to gulp all the flip-smacking food we ate:D

Verdict:

I have by far never ever given a 5 on 5 to any restaurant, But this way did beat it, the service, food is perfect as they say. Thank you for making us want to come again and again. The lip- smacking food and the chef himself making a point to come and look at us enjoying the food was the cheery on the top. Thank you Pradeep sir.

Guys do go and enjoy the lovely italian food at Little Italy and spread the word:D

Ambiance : 4/5
Taste : 5/5
Service : 5/5

For three people it would come up to 1500 apporx.

Onam Sadhya at Crimson Chakra

cc

My first ever Onam Sadhya. Thank you @samminator for calling me and making me experience something out of my comfort zone.

Sadhya means a variety of dishes traditionally served on a banana leaf in Kerala, India. During a traditional Sadhya celebration people are seated cross-legged on mats.

The main dish is plain boiled rice, served along with other dishes collectively called Kootan  which include curries like parippu, sambar, rasam, pulisseri and others like kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, mango pickle, pulinji, naranga achaar (lime pickle), as well as papadam, plantain chips, sharkara upperi, banana, plain curd and buttermilk. The traditional dessert called Payasam served at the end of the meal is of many kinds and usually three or more are served. Some of the varieties are Paal Ada, Ada Pradhaman, Paripu pradhaman, chakkapradhaman, etc. The ‘Kootan’ are made with different vegetables and have different flavours; some say the reason for including so many dishes in the Sadhya is to ensure that the diners will like at least a few dishes.

Some communities, especially those in the northern part of Kerala, include non-vegetarian dishes in the sadhya. Although custom was to use traditional and seasonal vegetables. Tradition has it that Onion and garlic are not typically used in the sadhya. Conventionally, the meal may be followed by, chewing of betel leaf with lime . This helps digestion of the meal and also cleanses the palate.

The food tasting session began and I was excited to try my first sadhya.  Being in south and not really been a fan of coconut smell in my food. I was hoping to like and not sense the smell I ate.

To my surprise there wasn’t any smell. Thank God and I quickly grabbed the paratha and started munching away with the gravies given.

Lets talk about the menu first : below is the variety of things served to us. Must tell you I loved every bit of what was served.

21222554_10155060420231775_1681882049_o

The APPAM, Paratha were very soft and my most favourite. The ghee rice served along with this was delicious, the ghee pouring from the rice and the aroma of the fresh hot ghee was just the thing I was looking for to have with my side dishes.

We ordered starters also which were mushroom masala, crispy potato, veg cutlet, cauliflower fried and Baby corn crispy. Well non veg starters were a variety of them to the ones i remember, as I dint get a chance to taste them , some were Chicken chukka, prawns crispy, chicken cutlet etc.

21216254_10155060420276775_443544599_o

Food review:

I loved every bit of the food there, be it the paratha, the channa masala, the rasam, the appam, the starters. The right quantity of masalas, less salt which I like. The aroma and the taste of all the side dishes actually made me finish the whole plate, like  a good girl.

Must must try the dishes. Whenever you go to Crimson Chakra.

Not sure if you will get to try all the dishes which we did, but you can request .
